2D Platformer | Unity | Long-term hobby project

Since 2023, I’ve been part of the development team for Pentaquin: Deed of Twilight, a story-driven 2D platformer that has been evolving as a hobby project over several years. The game is being developed in Unity and is currently available as a demo on Steam.

My main focus is on gameplay programming using C#. This includes:

  • integrating the game with Steam (achievements, cloud save, user connection),
  • implementing boss fights using behaviour trees,
  • bug fixing, and integrating assets provided by the artists into the game.

In addition, I’ve also contributed to rigging and animating individual 2D characters, although that’s not one of my core responsibilities.

Since more than 50 people have contributed to the project over the years, I frequently work on maintaining and extending existing systems or adapting code written by former team members. Currently, our active team consists of about ten people.

We organize our work through weekly meetings on Discord, where we plan and assign tasks. Project management and version control are handled via GitLab.

A personal highlight has been participating in events like Gamescom, Devcom, and Playcon, where we showcased the game at our booth. There, I helped present the project, gathered feedback from visitors, and fixed spontaneous bugs directly on site.
